Date of Session: June 6, 2024 Presenter: Ellie Louson and Makena Neal Description: What do you do if a student requests to zoom in to your class, due to illness, travel, or for other reasons, when the course is not designated or designed as a hybrid course? Some course instructors permit virtual student access to their in-person courses, allowing them to continue to learn and participate with their peers. How can such an “ad hoc hybrid” class function smoothly? What technologies and tactics can support learning and interactions under these conditions? And what are the costs and benefits that instructors should keep in mind while deciding whether to allow students to zoom in?
