Climate change disproportionately affects populations that have done the least to contribute to this problem. These communities already have a whole slew of other problems they have to contend with. Additionally, the communities that are contributing the most towards causing climate change also have the greatest resources to protect themselves from its adverse effects.
Every decision we make about climate change has the potential to increase equity but to also worsen it. Therefore, every conversation we have, or every class we teach, about climate change should also view solutions through a lens of equity.
During this session we will explore the equity considerations of some climate solutions and discuss ways in which we can incorporate conversations about equity in our teaching.
