Soil microbial communities are remarkably diverse, but up to 80% of these microbes can be dormant. Plant hormones, meanwhile, are capable of inducing significant responses in bacterial communities, and may selectively resuscitate members of soil bacterial communities after exposure. This research investigates which bacterial communities in soil from KBS LTER respond to two noteworthy plant hormones and will assay the activity of responsive taxa.
