Bioremediation is a viable option for treatment of organic contaminants at many sites and the growth of strains aiding this can be monitored by targeting genes associated with the process. The current experimental study is conducted with the shotgun sequencing data generated using genomic DNA from soils/ sediment from various sites including agricultural soils from KBS and East Lansing along with contaminated sediments from California. This study aims to analyze the abundance and diversity of genes associated with biodegradation of organic contaminants at various sites along with identifying the phylotypes and genes associated with KEGG xenobiotic degradation pathways.
