Hello, economic geography students. This is a video orientation to your course website in D2L. Before I get started, I want to first apologize for the background noise. There's some construction going on outside the window and it also share an office with a bunny. So my apologies if you hear some sound in the background. So I'm viewing the course through a student view. And it will look similar to what you see. But I will have some additional items visible that will not be visible to you yet simply because it is too early. Now when you log into D2L and click on the course website, you will be taken to the homepage. And that is where after that is what you're seeing here. So under the important heading, you will find important announcements and updates posted by your instructor, as well as some general reminders and other bits of information. You will also see an abbreviated calendar widget on the right-hand side. This is great for reference. But if you click on items like quizzes and assignments from the calendar, you might be missing out on some important information. Also, as a side note, you can access the full-size calendar under the Tools menu or course tools up at the top. So if you click on content at the top of the page, you'll be taken to the content page. Content pages where you can access almost everything you need for the course, including quizzes and assignments. Now along the are actually in the middle. Now you will see your course modules including the syllabus and schedule module. So let's go ahead and open that up. Here. You will have to complete syllabus. You will have the schedule, which is actually the last one or two pages of the full syllabus. And then you will have grading information including the grading scale and all of the points that will be available in the course. And again, this is pulled from the syllabus. Also in the syllabus and schedule module, you will have your instructors contact information. Alright, let's move over to the assignment module. So other modules you're going to see on this page are the assignment module and your lesson modules. In the assignment module, you're going to find everything you need to successfully complete your assignments in this course, including resources, guides, supporting materials, and the submission folder where you can upload your file. Now you can upload your file or a new file as many times as you like and only the last file will be kept. Lesson modules are also on this page. Open up the lesson module. You can see the pages of the lesson. There's a review quiz at the top and your real or graded quiz at the bottom. I also want to point out the video module. I do here. Let me open Lesson Module back up. Okay, so take note of the video, I guess it's called lesson in each of these modules, these are associated with an extra credit opportunity in the course. And they also provide supplemental information about concepts that are presented in the lesson. So these are great resources and things to watch and you might earn a little extra credit. Last thing I want to show you here is the Assessments tab. Another place to access your assignments and your quizzes is under the assessments tab. Now, this is a great, quick and easy place to navigate to those items. But again, you might miss out on some supporting information and resources if you access your assessments in this way, assignments in particular. Now, you will also find your grade report under the assessments menu, all grade items may not be available to you at the start after an assignment or quiz due date passes, your instructor will need to make that green visible in order for them to appear on your grade report.
