Correction: In this presentation, Dr. Walton remarks that the state flower of Michigan is the apple blossom (Malus domestica), which is not a native plant. The state flower of Michigan is actually a crabapple blossom (Pyrus coronaria), which is native to Michigan. Dr. Walton apologizes for the mistake, but hopefully this will help correct a common misconception that the state flower of MI is the apple blossom.
