In this installment of "Western Michigan at Work," Dr. Willis Dunbar describes the Jolly Kids Garment Manufacturing Company, a producer of children's clothing started in Bangor, Michigan. Dunbar talks about the variety of outfits the company makes, including snow suits for winter, crawlers to give young children freedom of movement, overalls, and playsuits. He describes the manufacturing process of the plant, which begins with the fabric receiving area, continues through the cutting room and the sewing room, and finally is shipped all over the United States. Robert Ward, a member of the cutting department, describes his work as a cutter, including holding the fabric and wielding the machine. Laura Dokey, a member of the sewing department, describes her work, including the various sewing machines used in the department.
