The Negative Effects of the Meiji Restoration on the Samurai Class

In this presentation, i explain the negative side of the Meiji Restoration by focusing on how the majority of the Samurai class were treated during this time. The reason i chose this topic is because i feel it is central to understanding the effects of modernization in Japan. While many people believe that he Meiji Restoration brought many good things, there were still many people( including Samurai) who got the short end of the deal, and struggled heavily during this time. By focusing on the negative effects of the Meiji restoration on the Samurai class, it opens up a new perspective to the misconception that the Meiji Restoration was all good and no one was treated unfairly.
